On 2 June, UFC 302 will take place, an event we've been looking forward to for months. The main event promises to be spectacular, with Islam Makhachev defending his lightweight title against the now-legendary Dustin "The Diamond" Poirier.
This fight isn't just a title bout, but also an opportunity for Poirier to make amends for his defeat against Khabib Nurmagomedov. Islam is a protégé of Khabib's late father, Abdulmanap Nurmagomedov. A victory over Islam therefore carries more weight than just the gold up for grabs.
Dustin Poirier is determined not to leave the result to the judges and predicts the fight will end early with a devastating knockout.
Islam Makhachev, for his part, is very confident and expects little resistance from Poirier. The champion has been dominant for 13 consecutive fights, unbeaten and has already defeated several big names in the UFC.
And according to Makhachev, Poirier will be no exception.
In the co-main event, former middleweight champion Sean Strickland takes on Paulo Costa.
The outspoken Strickland narrowly lost his title last February to current champion Dricus Du Plessis. Costa celebrated his comeback at the same time after a long break against former world champion Robert Whittaker, but was unsuccessful.
Both men have something to prove.
Both men aren't afraid of a tough fight.
And both men have no intention of backing down.
This will be a hard fight.
