Difference from standard sports shorts

While ordinary sports shorts often have a straight, loose cut, these Venum kickboxing shorts follow the classic Thai tradition with a shorter, tailored fit and high side splits. Standard sports shorts are made for general use and usually have a longer leg without a split, which limits your freedom of movement for high kicks. These Muay Thai shorts are specifically designed for standing combat sports: the side splits and lightweight polyester fabric allow you to kick and rotate freely, while the sturdy elastic band keeps the shorts in place without a tight closure. The tailored fit is functional for fighters who don't want excess fabric, but does require careful size selection.

Frequently asked questions

How do the Venum Classic kickboxing shorts fit in terms of size?

These shorts have a tailored, tight fit like traditional Muay Thai shorts. The size guide at the top of the page shows the exact waistband and length dimensions for each size. Measure your own waist circumference and compare it with the product dimensions in the table to choose the right size. Keep in mind that this is your body measurement, not the shorts' dimension.

What size Venum kickboxing shorts do I need if I normally wear size M?

That depends on your waist circumference and desired fit. Measure your waist at the narrowest point and compare it with the size guide at the top of this page. The table shows the waistband dimensions of the shorts themselves. Because the fit is tailored, your usual clothing size may differ from the size you need for these shorts. Always check the size guide for the best fit.

Can I also use these Venum shorts for MMA or BJJ?

These shorts are specifically designed for standing combat sports such as kickboxing and Muay Thai. For MMA and BJJ, other shorts are more suitable: MMA shorts have a longer, wider cut and fastenings that allow groundwork, while BJJ shorts have more robust material that withstands grips. The high side splits and lightweight polyester of these Muay Thai shorts are optimised for kicks and knees, not for ground fighting.

Can the Venum Classic kickboxing shorts be machine washed?

No, these shorts should only be hand washed. Machine washing can damage the polyester fabric, the logo and the elastic waistband. Wash the shorts in cold water with a mild detergent, rinse thoroughly and air dry. Avoid the tumble dryer and ironing to maintain quality and fit.

What is the difference between Muay Thai shorts and kickboxing shorts?

In practice, both terms are used interchangeably and refer to the same type of shorts. Muay Thai shorts originally have a shorter, tailored cut with high side splits, like this Venum Classic model. Some kickboxers prefer slightly longer, wider models, but these shorts follow the traditional Thai style that suits both sports.

Are the Venum Classic kickboxing shorts suitable for women?

Yes, this is a unisex model that can be worn by men, women and kids. The tailored fit works well with different body types. Women can use the size guide to choose the right size based on their waist circumference. Measure your waist at the narrowest point and compare it with the product dimensions in the table for the best fit.
